Pizzeria Mozza @ MBS

If you are one who likes seating in a bar for meet-ups, chilling evenings, gathering with love ones (couple, family) or even a boys-night-out / ladies-nights-out. This is a place with its right ambience set up just for you!

Mozza have two concept shop situated next to each other, also known as the restaurant: Osteria Mozza and the the other side sells PIZZA, also known as Pizzeria Mozza.

A little background adapted from their website
"With a devout commitment to product, environment and hospitality, Nancy Silverton, Mario Batali and Joseph Bastianich meld their prodigious talents to bring Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza to the heart of Singapore." ~ http://singapore.pizzeriamozza.com/the-restaurant/

Thankfully we have these guys bringing traditional Italian food to our homeland.

Both dining concepts are very different though it is just situated next to each other. The Osteria Mozza is like a fine-dining bar setup whereas Pizzeria Mozza is like a cafe bar setup. Both sides have their crowds, the lighting are dimmed down to build the ambience for the fine dining and for the pizzeria, it is brighter especially at the sit-around counter tables (where the main bulk of work is being done!) If you like live station, you would like to be seated a front of the oven, where they have non stops pizzas shove in and taken out of their stone oven.

The Pizzeria Mozza is pretty spacious, however to be able to handle the crowd, their tables set together have a limited walking space in between. Nonetheless, they left a passage walk way.

 Prosciutto de Parma (Complimentary)

As this dining venue gave us a little atas fine dining cafe style where it all started with some snacks. In chinese restaurant you have peanuts, here we are served with ham made into crackers with herbs. It is uniquely flavourful!

 Nancy's chopped salad

To start our meal, we chose a lightly seasoned salad, with chickpeas and cherry tomatoes! The chef had selected different cabbages to add on colors and allure our appetite further. As colors helps one vision to build up excitement.

Bone Marrow Al Forno

Next up, was our bone marrow with garlic and toasted buttery bread aside.
After seeing the 'bone marrow'in the menu the first thing that came to my mind was something like the bone marrow you could find in 'Soup Tulang'.

1st thought of the Bone Marrow (Soup Tulang)
But unexpectedly, the presentation was so simple that I was pretty taken aback. At first, when the dish was served I was contemplating whether to eat it, as there is no gravy.

Hoping not to regret, I placed a tiny little bit into my mouth, it just melts, and it became very addictive. The sides helps to add on more flavor to the bone marrow, especially with the various combination that you can try with!

As I am recalling, the taste is unforgotten.

Calamari al forno with fagioli & oregano

To satisfy our seafood craving and curiosity on how they would prepare this dish. We ordered.
Though chickpea have very minimal flavor, and calamari, if it was not prepared properly there will be a 'fishy'smell left behind. So with the herbs, this simple dish had become juicy keeping the sweetness and freshness of the seafood.

Bacon, salame (fennel sausage, pancetta, tomato & mozzarella) - Meat Lover's

Lastly, we ordered our PIZZA! As this restaurant serves only stone oven pizza, this makes this thin crust pizza delicious, cooking it till just the right time and not over baking it. Of cos, the chef who are preparing it also plays a very important role.

Having said all these, the food served that night at the restaurant have very minimum decoration. As that brings up the colors of the main dishes and not overpowering it. The sides, herbs and spices used are to help enhance the flavour aroma of the main dish.

I would definitely frequent this restaurant again. Though it is a little more pricey then average. Their staff are very friendly and sociable. They are there always to recommend their top list of chef recommendation!

Gentle Reminder: It is always full (do make a reservation before you head down)
